Incoming messages not showing in chat

Hi. I tried with several versions, nothing seems to work. I can see messages and info in #rooms but not private messages in chat. Notification about messages stay and everything is just blank without any info. Please help.

Hmmm.

Can you give you give us a bit of history about your server?

I just don’t recall ever seeing a version 2.17.22 ?? Do you mean the electron client?

You really need to tell us which version the actual server is, and I suggest you upgrade your client too.

Just experienced this same problem. Was a simple fix. The user account was not assigned any role. Added the user to the “user” role fixed the issue.

Thank you so much Stephen!!! This was the fix. I could tolerate a colleague having this issue, but not my wife as well :slight_smile:

I’m bumping this because when I searched on both DDG and Google, many other pages popped up, but this one was buried and was actually the fix for me and I’d imagine many others.
