Help concerning profile pictures

Hi, I’m trying to implement Rocket at my company (btw is Rocket fine when referring to the chat or should I use the full RocketChat)
I’m currently using the docker image for version 3.12.3, and while most setup steps when completely fine and without any issues, there is a small non-critical issue I’m struggling with and wondered if anyone here has encountered this.
We have an http server supplying pictures of company employees which I want to use as an “external provider” (and works fine). However when this provider is enabled users are not able to change their profile pictures. Is there any way to use the external provider as an “initial / default” picture and allow users to change their picture to whatever they want?

Thanks!

  • Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 3.12.3
  • Operating System: Linux
  • Deployment Method: Docker (Helm)
  • Number of Running Instances: 1

I think you asked this in open.rocket.chat but I can’t find the link to match it up!

Please test this on latest 3.14 just to make sure it hasn’t been fixed or altered.

However, I’m not sure that once you have forced the use of an external Avatar they can then change it.

That would probably require a code hack from yourself, or add it as a feature-request
