Description
A couple days ago I upgraded my self-hosted rocketchat server from version 6.x to 8.4. I am still getting a warning on desktop apps stating “Workspace version unsupported”, “Desktop and mobile app access to will be cut off in 4 day(s).”, "This workspace is running an unsupported version of Rocket.Chat. Your workspace admin needs to update to at least v7.10.0 to prevent cutoff.
Why am I getting this message on version 8.4.0?

Have you registered a cloud account? A lot changed between 6 & 7.
Did you do one big upgrade or steps? Likely that an upgrade from 6-8 has not been tested.
You should also be on 8.4.2
You’re right, I am on 8.4.2.
The first step I followed was updating MongoDB and during that process the server version also upgraded to 8.0. Then I did another update to 8.4.2.
I am already registered for the cloud account. I can paste my Cloud Workspace ID here if needed.
Thanks!

That does not happen automatically unless you use a ‘latest’ tag which you should never do.
Documented multiple times. Pin specific versions unless you are developing or like to waste a lot of your time fixing things.
Also see “Avoid skipping versions” here. It’s not just any old Windows app and upgrades need careful management
That’s because Q&A with upgrades is generally pants and untested outside the the last few point releases.
So you should have done 6 → 7 → 8 and tested each.
And personally I’d have been careful with 6 → 6.5+ as there substantial changes if you read the release notes.
Check in your admin panel if you licence us synced.
Your server has to abe able to reach a specific URL to check your version is supported so check connections.
(I don’t need your ID - I don’t work here)
Please also advise licence version eg CE, Starter, and approximate number of users.
