Description
Is there an option to make a default setting where people receive either an email for all messages when they are away or a daily digest email for what you might have missed? I know that each person can change their settings for each room individually, but the you are only able set the default notification for every DM/mention. I know that this was in the works (#17490 ) last year, but I’m not sure if it is available yet.

Hi @nmckeehan sorry for the late response and welcome to our forums!
We already have a feature request for this, and its in fact a very interesting suggestion:
opened 05:10PM - 13 Aug 20 UTC
The problem: now that direct messages are not limited to dialogues and more than… two users can DM in the same channel, users receive email notifications for every single DM which can result in many notifications being received.
Possible solution: Send an email notification for the first DM and then group subsequent DMs into a digest and send this digest email notification after a user configurable period of time. For example, after an hour it would send a digest email notification whose content would be something like ‘you have received 7 direct messages in the last hour’.
I would be most grateful if this feature request is considered, or indeed, implemented.
However, as for now, this is not on our roadmap.
But please, if you could, go to this feature request and add your +1 and suggestion.
As you can see, Rocket.Chat is growing fast, and we just had a lot of new developers hired, so new feature are yet to come for 2022.
THanks!!!
