Can't customize Rocket Chat's email templates

Description

When we try to change ANY data in any email template, nothing changes in the emails sent. We have no idea where the value of this crazy-long template var is being set,

{Visit_Site_Url_and_try_the_best_open_source_chat_solution_available_today}

which we assume is the problem. Trying to use raw text doesn’t work. We’ve wasted hours trying to figure this out. Nothing works? This kind of setup needs to be as simple as possible for most new users of any app as robust as this one.

It’s no a caching problem. It’s either a bug, or the documentation is failing to explain how these templates are used. Your help appreciated.

Notice in the document there is a “Custom email” setting. But I cannot find that setting anywhere.,

I finally got it working. “Settings” must be enabled under Permissions in order to customize any of those items. It’s very confusing. Still not sure whether settings AFFECT those roles, or can only be set by those roles. New users would be totally lost (as I was)

It is still not clear where values of placeholders like “Try_the_best_whatever” are set.
