Disable "Update you Rocket.Chat" notifications

Description

How do I go about disabling the “Update your Rocket.Chat” alerts (both as a top blue banner, and as a bot message) that get send to all admins every time there is a new release of Rocket.Chat. We have a regular maintenance cycle where new versions are reviewed and tested, and would prefer not to see these alerts.

We don’t really want to update everytime there is a new release and would rather do it at set intervals. Did you find the solution?

I had the same problem and solved it (for now) by deactivating the user rocket.cat.

I’d like to confirm that deactivating the rocket.cat user appears to stop the bot messages about updating Rocketchat. We also ended up disabling the update checker in Administration > General > Update > Update Checker. I can’t confirm whether it was deactivating rocket.cat, or disabling the Update Checker setting that stopped the top blue banner, but doing both seems to work.

Edit: The Update section was reset to default (so that the latest version available reads 0.0.0) before deactivation the Update Checker.

After deactivating rocket.cat – again I got a Message (from rocket.cat). Deactivating it seem like Schrödingers Cat – but more allive than dead. Hence I deleted the account. That didn’t stop the blue banner but I assume it will stop the direct messages.

In that case, I think it may have been disabling the update checker. Looking back, the last version that rocket.cat bugged us about was 3.6.1. At the time of this post, we are on 3.6.2, and 3.7.0 was released 2 days ago.
