"default channel" (or auto join) is not working

Description

So, basically I want newly created users to automatically join a defined amount of channels.
But it is not working, even though the channels are set to “default” (which is the option I’m looking for, right?)

Server Setup Information

  • Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 3.18.3
  • Operating System: Ubuntu Server 20LTS
  • Deployment Method: manual
  • Number of Running Instances: 1
  • DB Replicaset Oplog: ???
  • NodeJS Version: 12.22.1
  • MongoDB Version: 3.6.14
  • Proxy: nginx
  • Firewalls involved: none

Any additional Information

freshly created user does not auto join any channel, please advise!
I did a forum search but only found someone saying “add oil (,)…” WTF?!

Hi!

In order to troubleshoot this, I would advise:

  1. be able to reproduce this on a clean, fresh install, with latest version, using preferably docker.
  2. Move away from manual installs, as it get’s hard to reproduce this.

Have you created a team and create a channel for this team?
