Server type: private team or public community

I have installed the app

I as unclear to what the difference would really be between private or public when selecting server type

I could not find mush information online about

Can someone tell me if there is a real difference between these two? Is it only it isn’t open to sign up publicly?

I have the same question about the Server Type configuration value. If I choose “Private Team”, what are the consequences? Does my Rocket.Chat instance disable public sign ups?
