Any additional Information
I’m currently trying to set up multiple Rocket.Chat deployments on one Kubernetes cluster. The idea I have is the following:
- One Rocket.Chat deployment per customer per environment. So if I had two customers and three environments (dev, stage and prod), I would have six deployments in total.
I’m following the default setup to deploy Rocket.Chat via helm in a dev environment:
helm install stable/rocketchat --set mongodb.mongodbPassword=$(echo -n $(openssl rand -base64 32)),mongodb.mongodbRootPassword=$(echo -n $(openssl rand -base64 32))
When I do this, I’m able to port-forward rocket chat to my local host just fine. However, when I try to make another deployment, the rocket chat server goes into a crashloopbackoff with the following errors (I have tried different ports and the same ports):
/app/bundle/programs/server/node_modules/fibers/future.js:313
throw(ex);

I’m guessing this has something to do with the persistent volumes because those stick around even when I run helm delete
. Would this work better if I created an external mongodb instance (one instance per environment) and several databases (one DB per customer) and connected to that instance and disabled the MongoDB helm chart?
UPDATE: I just discovered that when I make more than one Rocket Chat deployment, what is happening is that there is only one persistent volume and there is another persistent volume claim being made to compete with every other claim. What I don’t understand is why the helm chart only makes one persistent volume…
