👉 Please create official guides 4 installing RocketChat on Plesk and C-panel

Yep…

Pretty much as the subject headline says…

Guys, please create and official guide for installing Rocket chat on Plesk and C-panel which I think will be extremely appreciated by both the community and the potential users out there.

I don’t think there is not much to argue for as it to me at least seems to be an obvious no-brainer options which are missing and self explanatory as there is highly likely a huge demand for this and people want to use it.

It’s actually more a question of why hasn’t it been done yet?

Please hit this post with a like  if you want and official installation guide for both Plesk/C-Panel!
:facepunch:

These are the recommended methods.

Yes indeed @reetp , but you seem to miss the point.

There are no recommended installation guides for Plesk or C-panel in the official documentation guides which you are linking to.

No, I’m not missing it at all.

Using c-panel or plesk are not recommended systems for installing Rocket.Chat

Use either snap or docker directly on a server.

However, I think if you have a good read around you can learn how to install docker on c-panel or plesk, and then install Rocket.Chat

There is huge advantages by installing Rocketchat in a Plesk (or C-panel for that matter), enabled server and use the server for many roles, (By partitioning it up to run many different business systems), instead of dedicating a full server just for Rocketchat for a business for example.

For other individual users that use a traditional host which offers a CP it also give the advantage of being able to use their already existing hosting plan so they do not have to rent a server which is dedicated only run Rocketchat.

Its makes also RocketChat more accessible to more users that do not wish to run a full server or do not have the knowledge to run a Linux server for example which cannot be a bad thing for Rocketchat itself = more users.

Did you not read my last post?

Do you know how snaps or docker work?

Did you read about running snaps or docker on your existing plex/c-panel server?

They are just self contained environments you can add on a single server. You can run a multitude of different snaps or docker containers on one server. They don’t need a separate server.

The docker install actually runs two or three services - rocket itself, mongo, & traefik if enabled.

The point about docker/snaps is it makes it far easier to maintain rocket itself.

Native installs have a host of dependencies and are difficult to manage.

Over the years the number of supported install types has dropped because they are difficult to maintain/upgrade across multiple platforms/OS etc.

So you can install both docker & snap on your existing c-panel / plesk server, and then install rocket. You don’t need another server.

The only guide required is how to install docker or snaps on a c-panel or plesk server. Rocket don’t use it so there is no one who is going to write it.

By all means write one and the doc team may add it.

( If you are a hosting provider wanting to do this for multiple clients then you should talk to partners @ rocket.chat )
