Is there currently a possibility of some implementation of previewing files without downloading them on the client? Something similar to Office Web Apps or different work solutions with simple preview docs ?
You used to be able to preview PDFs but the issue was that the client side rendering library slowed everything down as the file sizes increased.
So it was fine for one or two pages, but then people were uploading a string of massive multi-megabyte PDFs and then wondering why their system slowed right down or their browsers crashed.
So that was pulled a few versions back in the interests of stability and performance.
I think alternatives are being considered but no decisions yet.
