Is rocket.chat suitable for amateur radio (AREDN) networks?

Hello. I recently discovered rocket.chat in an online community website. I think it may be an excellent application for amateur radio networks, specifically https://www.arednmesh.org. These networks are based on modified OpenWRT and high performance wireless APs. I’m in the process of building a node to join my local mesh, and contributing an IRC server. However having a rocket.chat server available would be highly desirable since there’s a record and no real-time requirement.

However, encryption of any kind is not permitted on amateur radio frequencies, aside from passwords for adminstration and remote management. The server would strictly be accessable only on the AREDN network and hams know full well the insecure nature of the channel.

Is this possible? Note that I don’t care about encypted storage on the server, that’s ok and probably encouraged. I just can’t have encryption over the network link between client and server.
