How can I connect remotely to my selfhosted rocket.chat server?

Hello ROCKET.CHAT forum,

Background information

I have recently become interested in Linux and OpenSource software.

I am currently trying to move away from propitiatory software. This has led me to install Rocket.Chat on my Raspberry Pi 2b+

It was easy install Rocket.Chat using Snaps.

Everything is up and running on my local system, but I’d like friends and family to be able to join my Rocket.Chat

My Question

  • How can I allow other people to connect to it who are outside of my home network?

Any help, advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Very interested in this too
I looked up how to reach my server from outside of my lan using this - > https://www.howtogeek.com/66438/how-to-easily-access-your-home-network-from-anywhere-with-ddns/
It should just be a matter of using ddns, then having a link that you can share with your family and friends.

I haven’t tried anything yet as I’m doing it for my work and I need permission and stuff. Do let me know if you’ve tried it and what worked/what didn’t work
