25 User Limitation

Description

Hello, I recently updated Rocket Chat version on a client’s server and they complained about user limitation which was not there earlier. I did some reading here and on GitHub and it looks like Pro or Enterprise version of Rocket Chat was activated without them asking for it or knowing it and we are wondering if they are not using any premium features or apps, can they safely cancel the subscription or trial version and just ho back to community version of Rocket Chat?
Thanks in advance.

Server Setup Information

  • Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 6.6.0
  • Operating System: CentOS Stream 8
  • Deployment Method: docker
  • Number of Running Instances: 1
  • MongoDB Version: 5.0
  • Proxy: Nginx
  • Firewalls involved: firewalld

Yes there were quite a few changes at 6.5

Yes you can revert to CE, but note there are still some limits eg push notifications, no read receipts etc.

Hello @reetp,

Thanks for the update.

May I ask you to confirm that anything from https://www.rocket.chat/pricing will not be available anymore(if they started using some features) ?

Kind regards,
Leon

Yes if you revert you will lose some features.

I don’t have a note of CE features but I do know that:

Push notifications - max 10,000 per month (unless you run your own push server)
No read receipts
Only basic AD/LDAP sync
Limited number of apps

Probably some other bits as well.

Likely max for users will be around 200 due to architectural limitations.

Good enough for small orgs with simple communications.

Note it is open source, but that does not always = “free”

Please ask if you have other questions.

Thanks a lot reept and sorry for delayed response.

I think that is all I wanted to know.
