🚀 Try RocketChat 8.0 on OpenShift — Zero Hassle, 2.5 minute Cloud-Native Deployment!

If you’ve ever struggled getting RocketChat running smoothly in a Kubernetes environment like OpenShift, rocketchat-on-openshift makes it ridiculously easy to stand up a fully functional RocketChat instance on Red Hat OpenShift — even in Red Hat’s free-for-testing OpenShift Developer Sandbox.

demo

Why it’s worth your time:

  • :package: Turnkey OpenShift deployment — Uses RocketChat’s official Helm chart with OpenShift-compatible tweaks so you don’t fight security contexts or * SCCs.

  • :hammer_and_wrench: Ready for testing & production — Works with MongoDB and Route configuration out of the box.

  • :test_tube: Great for sandbox experiments — Pair it with the free Red Hat OpenShift Sandbox and be chatting in minutes with minimal setup.

  • :speech_balloon: Get insight into a real-world deployment pattern if you’re running RocketChat in clusters already or planning to scale.

Perfect for anyone who wants a self-hosted, scalable RocketChat in a secure, container-orchestrated platform — without wrestling with raw Kubernetes configs.

Feedback and PRs welcome!

Disclaimer: I work for Red Hat as a Solutions Architect, but this is a personal project — not an official Red Hat offering or supported product.

Bitnami MongoDB Deprecation: The bundled Bitnami MongoDB subchart only provides MongoDB 6.0, but RocketChat 8.x requires MongoDB 8.2+. Bitnami has stopped publishing new MongoDB images.

FYI this is already covered here…..

Correct, thanks. I’m documenting the change in case anyone was using my previous deployment.
