Line breaks between messages

So since the upgrade to 0.66.1, there are line breaks where there used to not be any. In fact, even historical messages have been changed. I cannot seem to find any place in the admin panel to change this. Here is what it looks like:

Previously it would have read:
oh
that site is down
but i will when its up.

Any help is appreciated.

So, this cannot be changed? Nobody else finds it annoying?
