# How to block users

### Description
On my self managed community instance I can’t find out how to block users. Let’s say one user wants to do a direct message and I don’t want this private 1-1 talk. How to prevent that in the future from this user?
In the docs I read about “Multi-users Direct Message” in relation to blocking, but couldn’t figure out it was possible in 1-1 or only with multi-users.
Is is not possible in the free Community version?
