# Direct Reply - IMAP - not picking up mail

### Description

I can’t seem to get the ‘Direct Reply’ feature to work. Does anybody use this? Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong?

I’m using a gmail account with an app password connecting via IMAP.

Server logs show connection and detection of messages for the gmail account.

rocketchat\_1 | \<= ‘\* OK [UIDVALIDITY 1] UIDs valid.’  
rocketchat\_1 | \<= ‘\* 5 EXISTS’  
rocketchat\_1 | \<= ‘\* 0 RECENT’  
rocketchat\_1 | \<= ‘\* OK [UIDNEXT 31] Predicted next UID.’  
rocketchat\_1 | \<= ‘\* OK [HIGHESTMODSEQ 4757]’  
rocketchat\_1 | \<= ‘A4 OK [READ-WRITE] INBOX selected. (Success)’

No messages posted into the chat channel and no messages deleted on the gmail account so it’s like the server isn’t choosing to read the messages.

- Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 4.8.1
- Operating System: ubuntu-bionic-18.04-amd64-server-20220610
- Deployment Method: docker
- Number of Running Instances: 1
- DB Replicaset Oplog:
- NodeJS Version: 14.18.3
- MongoDB Version: 4.0.28
- Proxy: nginx
- Firewalls involved: none
